The goal of this course is to analyze topics that are important for an understanding of such decision-making and firm behavior. Besides standard concepts such as price competition, product choice and market power, the course takes on topics such as free entry, switching costs, specific forms of price differentiation and bundling, asymmetric information, tying and platform markets. The integration of real-world cases in the course permits to focus on novel issues, such as competition policy in network markets, platform design, as well as pricing under asymmetric information.
The course consists of a lecture (2 SWS) and exercise classes (1 SWS).
During the winter term 2017/2018 the lecture takes place on Monday, 15:00 – 16:30 in room LG 3.154.
The first lecture takes place on Monday, 23 October 2017.
On Monday, 6 November 2017, 8 January and 15 January 2018 the lecture will take place from 15:00 - 18:15 in room LG 3.154. On Monday, 22 and 29 January 2018 there will be no lecture.
The exercise classes take place on Monday, 9:45 - 11:15 in room LG 3.155.
The first exercise classes take place on Monday, 6 November 2017.

The written exam is planned for Monday, 5 February 2018, 9:45 in room LG H1.
There is no registration required for participating in this course. A participation is possible at any time.
